Chris is being confirmed next weekend...which means everyone is coming to the house...including the ex-husband, new wife, ex-in laws...and Andy is bringing his new girlfriend home with him from college...AUUGGHHHHH!
Breathe....
I am not totally concerned about all of the "ex"s...they were a part of my life for 15 plus years... they know me...and it's not like I am a total slob...I am just not a perfectionist when it comes to my house - it is lived in.
It's the new girlfriend that has me freaking out....I have met her - I think she is a wonderful girl and she compliments Andy very well - I want to make a good impression - I want her to feel welcome in my home.....
I am trying to clean my "craft room"/"computer room"
It's going to be awesome when it's done and organized...but...right now...it's getting me down.....
It's still cold here - bitterly cold.
I am thinking about a different cardigan than the previous post - I'll post a picture when I have time - right now...I should be cleaning....off task....
...definitely...off-task....

Coffe has been my friend. I know what you mean about having people over. I have so much stuff in a 1000 sq ft place that even when I clean it is overwhelming to outsiders. Take it a bit at a time. You'll have it done by the time they come. I do my best work at the 11th hour.
I know what you mean about wanting to make a good first impression. My house is well lived in, and my kids are often doing creative projects or making forts. There is always something on the go, so the house is not always 'company ready'. I found a great place to get motivated and kept on track for getting the house ready for guests is Fly Lady.
She's got Crisis Cleaning 101, and detailed cleaning lists, and great ways to get things done faster.
Colder than a bugger here, too. Didn't get out of the teens below zero today. Tomorrow should be "warm"--supposed to climb to 2 ABOVE zero.
The room... I have one of those, and have been working on it slowly but surely. And you're right, it will be great once it's done!
Good luck with the house! If all else fails, put everything in a laundry basket (dirty dishes, clutter, etc) and hide it in the basement.
I've done that! Of course, if I put it all in the basement, I forget to go through it later. So I put the 'stash away' box in my bedroom closet. It forces me to get to it or else I have to keep tripping on it every morning! Sooner or later everything in that box has to get put away. I do like how fast that trick works, though. Someone's coming - quick! Stash everything on the kitchen counter in this box!
I guarantee you that when I do that, someone undoubtedly asks for a document or something that I have shoved in there, and I have to go secretly hunting through the box to find the wanted item.
C'est la vie! That's life.
Happy Valentine's Day!
