Help...

I found out yesterday that I am leaving for Mexico on Saturday for Spring Break and my 45th birthday!!!!!

I need to know from all you experienced worldly travelers....Can I bring knitting needles on the airplane???

I would hate to waste the five hour flight....

HELP!!!

I've never had a problem with it, but my handy tip is to take bamboo or plastic ones if you don't want to waste time getting searched at security. You could also go to the FAAs website and print where it says they're OK just in case.

Yes, you are allowed any kind of needles unless they raise the "alerts" before you leave!!!

I'm so happy for you! You deserve a nice vacation. Hope you take lots of photos, and share some of them! I don't know for sure about the knitting needles on an airplane; everyone I know who has departed from the Toronto airport here in Canada says they weren't able to take knitting needles on the airplane, as they can be a dangerous weapon. I think you might be able to get away with bamboo needles or your circular socks needles, unless they are worried about you strangling someone with them. I think if you have a project already started on the needles it would look less dangerous.

I agree about not brining metal ones: they'd set off an alert.

If they don't let you bring needles, may I suggest a great knitting book or novel, like "Friday Night Knitting Club"?

I just finished Friday Night Knitting Club and it is fantastic. And I've never had a problem with knitting needles on a plane before. I would definately go to the FAA website and print the page that says they are OK - just in case. HAVE FUN!!! And bring back some sun!!

Have fun and a happy birthday...what a glorious vacation. I took my knitting needles on the plane...I used circulars so they wouldn't poke anyone.
